What is Peyronie’s Disease?

NatureAbstract_1

Peyronie’s Disease is a condition marked by penile curvature, indentation, loss of penile length and pain (with or without an erection).38 These deformities of the penis can appear in men of all ages but is most commonly present in middle age men.40 The cause of Peyronie’s Disease is not well understood. In many cases, the disease is a result of inflammation and plaque formation after repeated trauma to the penis; for example, during sexual intercourse. When the penis heals from the trauma, scar tissue may form which could lead to curvature if that scar tissue can no longer stretch when trying to achieve an erection.38
